Author Joanne Doherty - ‘This app fills London’s gap’ I have created this app because I felt London was missing something, it is a city full of history and that history is connected to the ‘Royal Family’ which fascinates tourists and the world. Royal history is intriguing because it is about power, influence and wealth, who were the wealthiest kings and queens of England - who conquered what and who lost; winning battles was what the English Crown was built on. I want visitors to have a better understanding and a genuine feel for the city of London by quickly exploring its places connected to the Monarchy, for instance, if looking at Albert Bridge, have an insight to the history behind it. It was in fact, Prince Albert (husband of Queen Victoria) who in 1860 suggested a new toll bridge, the bridge connecting Battersea with Chelsea, is a good example of Victorian Architecture. The app provides a chronological list of British Monarchs attaching them to historical places mainly in London. Whether a tourist has two days or two weeks to visit famous landmarks, museums and palaces, this app enables a visitor to efficiently plan their stay in London and to select what and where they want to go. History is present all around London and not just by the sight of big buildings, for instance the Magna Carta - one of the most important documents in British History. King John is most famous for signing the Magna Carta 15th June 1215, it contained 63 promises. The King was no longer the sole power of the country. The Magna Carta is one of the most important documents in British History. The USA used it as a basis for ‘The Declaration of Independence’. Why not visit the British Library and see a copy of it - British Library, 96 Euston Road, King’s Cross, London NW1. The jewel of London is its history - don’t miss it! I hope this app will enable people to teach themselves a bit of history, whilst walking in the corridors of past Kings and Queens and let the history of London create lasting memories of a vacation.
