There is a statue of Marshal Ferdinand Foch in Grosvenor Gardens, London - it was specifically placed at this location so that all French people arriving in London via Victoria Station - would notice it; Foch was the only French military commander to be made a British Army Honorary Field Marshal (First World War). General Foch received the Order of Merit (distinguished service). Foch died in Paris in 1929 and was buried in Les Invalides - next to Napoleon.
