Margaret Thatcher Statue

Bronze Statue of Margaret Thatcher, Houses of Parliament - Queen Eliazabeth II

The statue is opposite the statue of Sir Winston Churchill, and the statue was designed to show her in her final term as Prime Minister. It was in 1979 (during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II) that Margaret Thatcher became the UK’s first woman Prime Minister.  Margaret Thatcher Day - 10th January - is commemorated each year in the Falkland Islands - the first Margaret Thatcher Day was in 1992.  (Prime Minister 4th May 1979 - 28th November 1990.)
