Queen Mary II died of smallpox in 1694 – no surviving children.
Henry Purcell - wrote the music for the funeral of Queen Mary II, Purcell is often referred to as England’s greatest musician and was Queen Mary’s favourite composer. Purcell died just 8 months after the funeral of Queen Mary II, at the age of 36. Purcell worked for 3 Kings and was the organist for Westminster Abbey at the young age of 20 and is buried next to the organ in Westminster Abbey - available to visit with a guided tour of the Abbey.
