Benjamin Franklin lived at this house for 16 years, Franklin was a scientist, inventor, philosopher and diplomat, he helped draft the Declaration of Independence of the United States. Franklin was mostly self-taught and yet considered to be the most intelligent American of his age - he received only two years of formal education (Boston Latin School).
