Buckingham Palace - King George III

King George III bought Buckingham House in 1761, which later became Buckingham Palace; it was originally built in 1703 belonging to John Sheffield who was the ‘Duke of Buckingham’ - thereby naming the house after his title.

Buckingham Palace, the King’s official residence, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in London, thousands of people visit the Palace every year from home and abroad - fascinated with the history of the Palace and, of course, the British Royal Family.

The Palace has 775 rooms in total.  King Edward VII is the only monarch to have been born in the Palace and to have died in the Palace.
