The Museum of the Order of St John - King William II
The First Crusade (1095) began during William II’s reign and ended in 1099 with the Crusaders taking Jerusalem.
Located at St John’s Gate, 26 St John’s Lane, Clerkenwell - this is a small but compact museum and details a lot of history regarding the Crusades and the Hospitaller Knights (ancient chivalrous military order). There are displays of magnificent treasures, well laid out and most definitely worth a visit, highly recommended. The museum also details the history of St John’s Ambulance.
No entrance charge and guided-tour available on certain days (voluntary donation).
From Farringdon tube station it is just a 5-minute walk to the museum.
Open Monday - Saturday 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
