Sir Walter Raleigh, burial place - St Margaret’s Church, Westminster

Elizabeth’s reign was regarded as ‘The Golden Age’ or ‘The Elizabethan Era’ (1558-1603) - the arts and discoveries flourished during her reign in particular such talents as: William Shakespeare, Francis Bacon, Francis Drake and Walter Raleigh - all contributed to making the nation wealthy. 

Walter Raleigh (explorer, writer and poet) is buried in St Margaret’s Church, Westminster (next to Westminster Abbey) where there is a memorial and stained-glass window dedicated to him. It was during the reign of King James I, that Raleigh was executed - beheaded in the courtyard adjoining St Margaret’s known as Old Palace Yard.
