Greyfriars Church, King Edward Street, London (Grade I listed building) - King Edward III

Grave of a ‘She Wolf’- Isabella (King Edward III’s mother); visit Christchurch Greyfriars Church Garden - a great spot to sit in the middle of busy London (close to the Stock Exchange) and just imagine the lives of medieval queens.

Four Queens buried at this church include:

Marguerite of France - second wife of King Edward I; Isabella wife of King Edward II and mother to Edward III; Joan of the Tower (born in the Tower of London, Queen consort – married King David II of Scotland; she was the daughter of Edward II and Isabella of France) and the heart of Eleanor of Provence - wife of King Henry III.

The original Church was destroyed during the Great Fire of London and rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren but damaged during the second world war - only a shell of the church remains today - open to the public - nearest tube station St Paul’s (4-minute walk).
