St Albans Cathedral - King Henry VI
St Albans grew from a church into an outstanding cathedral and it was during the ‘Wars of the Roses’ that King Henry VI took refuge in St Albans Church.
St Albans is a city rich in history and takes its name from the first British saint - St Alban. This is a magnificent cathedral (built 1077) it is the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain and is a fascinating building to explore - both exterior and interior stunning. Entrance is free.
