Warwick Castle - King Edward IV

Warwick Castle was initially built by William the Conqueror and later rebuilt in stone by King Henry II in the 12th century. Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, who was a very wealthy peer, rebelled and imprisoned ‘King Edward IV’ in the castle in 1469, and the castle’s dungeons are open to the public. 

Warwick Castle is probably the most impressive castle in the UK, and it was named, in 2001, as one of Britain’s top 10 historic monuments.

Admission fee: day tickets from £24.00.  Open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Trains depart from London’s Marylebone Station to Warwick Parkway - journey takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.

It is a 7-minute drive from the train station to the castle (via A425) taxi could approximately cost £8 to £11.00; alternatively there is a bus - Line 16 bus £2 to £4 and takes about 24 minutes.  It is about a 10-minute walk from Warwick Castle into Warwick town-centre.
