King Edward II was allegedly murdered in Berkeley castle.
Open from Sunday to Wednesday (closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday - private functions).
Admission adults £14.00, children aged 3-16, £7.00.
Berkeley Castle has remained in the Berkeley family’s possession since the 12th century and is a Grade I listed building. The ‘keep’ is the oldest part of the castle (1153). The castle is surrounded by beautiful gardens and it was used for many scenes for the 2003 film ‘The Other Boleyn Girl.’
Trains depart from London’s Paddington Station to Berkeley Castle (no direct train - travelling time, including transfers, about 3 hours).
However, National Express situated at London Victoria (coach station) runs a bus/coach to Berkeley Castle (station) hourly. Tickets cost approximately £17-£24 and the journey takes roughly 2 and a half hours.
