Carlisle Castle - King William II

In 1092 Carlisle was captured from Scotland and in 1093 King William II initiated the construction of Carlisle Castle, Carlisle is in the English county of Cumbria.   

The castle provides magnificent views, has a military museum and is full of history. Mary Queen of Scots spent 8 weeks of imprisonment in Carlisle Castle.

 (The castle is a 14-minute walk from the train station via W Tower Street, and is within walking distance of the town centre.)
