Lionel Logue’s Clinic Plaque
146 Harley St London
King George VI suffered from a speech stammer (film - the King’s Speech) and worked hard to overcome it with the help of an Australian Speech Therapist based in London, Mr Lionel Logue. In 1944 the King appointed Logue a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. Logue died in London just 12 months after the King.
Lionel Logue practiced at 146 Harley Street from 1926 until 1952. The plaque was a tribute to Logue’s hard work and dedication - it was probably at this address where Lionel treated King George VI. (Plaque unveiled 19th May 2011.) Great Portland Street tube station and Regent’s Park tube station are both a short walk to Harley Street.
