Westminster Abbey - Memorial to Edmund Halley - King Henry VIII
During King Henry VIII’s reign (in 1531) the appearance of Halley’s comet in the sky caused panic.
In the south cloister of Westminster Abbey there is a memorial to astronomer Edmund Halley. Halley’s comet is named after him. Halley was born in 1656, Haggerston, London, he was the son of a successful soap maker.
