Imperial War Museum - Lambeth Road - King George V
King George V was highly respected throughout the country during the First World War as he regularly visited troops and made over 300 hospital visits meeting injured soldiers.
The museum was opened by King George V at the museum’s original site of Crystal Palace - 9th June 1920, but moved to its current location in 1936.
This is the 15th most visited museum in the whole of the United Kingdom; allow at least 3 hours for this visit, the history concerning the First World War (ground floor) is outstanding.
Nearest tube station is Lambeth North (Bakerloo Line), a 7-minute walk, via Westminster Bridge Road and King Edward Walk. Admission – free.
