The Postal Museum, 15-20 Phoenix Place, London - Queen Victoria
The Penny Black (profile of Queen Victoria) was the world’s first postage stamp used on 1st May 1840.
The Postal Museum opened in London on 28th July 2017, and includes films/videos and presentations about the history of the postal system; there is also a 15-minute ride on a mail train through tunnels and station platforms. Open daily 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Allow 2-3 hours for visit.
Nearest tube stations include: Farringdon, a 12-minute walk from Farringdon tube station to museum via Farringdon Road; Chancery Lane and Russell Square tube stations are about a 12 to 15-minute walk.
