Marlborough House (Pall Mall) - King Charles I

Henrietta (wife of King Charles I) had a strong interest in the arts and was responsible for the arrival (London) of painter Orazio Gentileschi - whose many achievements included the Allegory of Peace and the Arts - which is at Marlborough House, London (now the Commonwealth Secretariat Headquarters).

Marlborough House is a Grade I listed building and was built by Sir Christopher Wren in 1711; it was originally built for the Duchess of Marlborough (Sarah Churchill), who was a confidante of Queen Anne and was the home to the Dukes of Marlborough for over a century.

Open to the public - guided tours only. 

Nearest tube station is Green Park Tube Station (served by Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines) 10-minute walk (via A4) to Marlborough House.
