The Guildhall, London - King Richard II
Richard Whittington became Lord Mayor of London during King Richard II’s reign, Whittington was a very wealthy man and because he had no children - left his estate to charity, which included a donation to Bartholomew’s Hospital. Richard Whittington sold many goods to King Richard II, worth £3,000 which at that time was a fortune and he also lent money to the Crown.
Whittington was the real-life inspiration for the English folk tale of Dick Whittington and his cat.

The Guildhall, London is a Grade 1 listed building with its own art gallery, remains of a Roman Amphitheatre, and the Great Hall is spectacular with rich red carpet and impressive stained-glass windows, there is a stained-glass window of Dick Whittington. The building has been at the centre of Government business since the Middle Ages (medieval building) – well worth a visit especially for those interested in architecture.

Guildhall, Gresham Street, tube stations include Moorgate tube station and Bank tube station - both a 4-minute walk, also St Paul’s tube station is a 5-minute walk.
