The New Forest National Park - King William II

King William II was accidentally hit by an arrow (whilst hunting) which caused his death. There is a stone referred to as the “Rufus Stone” in the village of Minstead, New Forest, which is allegedly the spot where William II was killed. 

See this major landmark of history and visit the village of Minstead “Rufus Stone” - fastest train from London (Waterloo station) to Ashurst New Forest train station - takes 90 minutes.

At the present time of writing there are about 20 trains per day.

From Ashurst New Forest train station to Minstead, Lyndhurst - by car it is a 15-minute drive.  Taxi service available. 

The New Forest has 61 ancient monuments - beautiful countryside.
