Fotheringhay Castle - King Richard III
It is a short walk out of the village (Fotheringhay) to visit the remains of the castle - just a small piece of stonework is all that is left, a notice board explains the history of the site (birthplace of King Richard III but it was also the execution site of Mary Queen of Scots). Local church in Fotheringhay is St Mary and All Saints – rich in history, work begun by King Edward III.
The average train time from London (King’s Cross) to Peterborough is 50 minutes (fastest train 43 minutes) a 20-minute drive from Peterborough to Fotheringhay.
