What does a tourist expect? Culture, history and heritage

Cultural Quality

A tourist wants excitement and that means satisfaction with value for money - when expectations are met a tourist goes home ‘happy’. Information accommodates ‘expectation’ so use it!

Cultural attractions and impressive architecture are high on the list for a ‘city break’ but most people are motivated by price and accessibility, how expensive a place is and how easy it is to get from one place to another. Familiarisation with the London Underground is both easy and essential. Most museums and galleries in London provide free admission, make the most of them.

Relaxation, Entertainment and Enjoyment

To avoid disappointment when visiting London, or any capital city, preparation is a key factor.

A bit of knowledge and appreciation of an historical environment, such as 'The Tower of London' or 'Buckingham Palace' will create a better ability to interpret what has taken place before you and to walk in the footsteps of so many famous people.

Approximately 90% of tourists visit at least one iconic landmark when in London.‘The Tower of London’ is the most popular, it is probably the Eiffel Tower of London. All tourists want to go there not just for its historical experience, but for enjoyment, relaxation and entertainment. Relaxation is the whole purpose of taking a holiday, it is a break from the monotony of everyday life.

Observations of Present Day London

What does a tourist observe from London that is not so common in other capital cities?

A London pub!  Where do you see in other cities around the world people standing outside a pub on the pavement drinking pints of beer!  There is nothing wrong with this, it just does not happen in the likes of Paris or Rome, it is a characteristic unique to London!
